YOUniverse! Presenting Pepsi MBA! Here’re Prof. Khamba and Prof. Tanmay who’ll teach you how to enjoy ICC World T20, with the new Tameez, Pepsi Style!

Hi!

I’m professor Khamba!

And you’re reading this because…well, if you were on Facebook you obviously had nothing else to do right now but be floored by advertising telling you how amazing I am! And that, let me assure you, is true. Seriously. I was even going to be head boy in my school till that dude who kissed the principal’s ass beat me to it. I hear he flips burgers for a living now.
Let’s cut to the chase. I’m a comedian, a Pepsi fan, someone who likes to do a lot of badtameezi and here to bring you the ICC World T20 in a way you’ve never seen it before. What does that entail?
Cricket Audience Tameez: Here I’m going to teach you how to watch the ICC World T20 in ways you’ve never imagined. Have to use the loo? Shove a flower vase next to your couch and let yourself go. Need someone to hand you your bottle of Pepsi at 2 in the morning because you’re too lazy? Call your best friend and tell them you’re having a heart attack. You get the drift. Learn from us and this will be the most fun you’ll have ever had watching T20.
Moves: Tired of the same old ghaati dance everytime something epic happens through the course of the match? Have no fear. As a professor I take my role of educating you in the nuances of celebration very seriously. Watch the videos and learn how to embarrass Bollywood background dancers into submission.
Third, join us at the Pepsi Shrine, where we teach you to translate all your spiritual energy into a match winning formula for Team India – and put those late night kavach chaps out of business.
And finally, listen to me provide live commentary through the ICC T20 World Cup with Professor Tanmay – where the school the big guys on how its done. It’ll be fun, edgy, in your face and last but not least, badtameez!

Get the idea? I hope you did, because otherwise writing this whole pep talk was pointless and you should be ashamed of yourself.

The finale to end all Finales happened on June 17th in Delhi at the Pepsi T20 Football Grand Finale. It played out to a full house who enjoyed every second of it. Right from the audience to the celebrity line up at the event, the Grand Finale was a huge success!

It started off with Nikhil Chinapa our guest Host for the event as he introduced Virat Kohli and kicked off the first set of matches.

Eight teams competed for the title of Pepsi T20 Football Champion. The Seven city finalists and one online entry were introduced to the cage and the terms of the game were explained to them.

The matches were the centre of everyone’s attention but we sneaked in some very cool surprises with Pepsi LiveWire and its cast of crazy characters who took over the stadium with their special kind of mayhem!

If you missed it you gotta catch Pepsi LiveWire all here!

The crowds met Mr. Bhukkad, Bak Baki Betty, Delhi Bwoy and Daring Diana who were all at the height of their individual quirkiness. They stole some of the attention as they cheered with the crowd, interacted with them and over all embarked on their own crazy journeys!

With the event getting hotter as each game brought the teams closer to the Final match, the line up of celebrities started getting hotter too. Right before the 4th quarter final we had Ranbir Kapoor walk in and meet the players with a little tete-a-tete with Nikhil!

Followed by Harbhajan Singh and Baichung Bhutia, their entrance was peppered with performances by our Cheerleaders who had everyones in a roar for the teams. The Semi Final saw Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina come in and greet the players. The teams fueled by such great encouragement fought even harder till there were only two teams standing.

At the end of a powereful performance by Sivamani, Our Champion Didier Drogba entered and the crowd went WILD! He entered with the finalists and after a few words the final match took place with Drogba, Dhoni, Raina, Virat and Bhajji, with Ranbir, Baichung and Sivamani watching too.

Here’s what Drogba had to say…

In the end there could only be one team, and that team was the one that fought the hardest and played their hearts out! The Champions of the Pepsi T20 Football Grand Finale were SGC Delhi, and the audience cheered their victors on Loud and Clear!

Followed by a rousing performance by Sivamani and the drummers, the Finale of the evening, the Celebrity exhibition match took place. Imagine the excitement that Drogba himself could not keep away and joined in! After a well played match, the Champions took the trophy and the day came to a successful end!

We’re thankful for all the support we received and we’re hope you enjoyed it all! To relive the memories again, catch all the action here

And YOUniverse, keep Changing the Game!

The last of the City Finals took us to Delhi, where our nation’s capital showed us exactly how hot a Delhi welcome is! After all Dilwallon ki Dilli is where all the action was happening at Pacific Mall.

We kick-started the Pepsi T20 Football with a note from our belle blogger, Preeti Dhingra who welcomed the audience to the event.

Over the next two days anyone and everyone had contracted Pepsi Football fever, we even got the city’s twitterati to show us their skills in the cage, T20 style of course.

A special mention goes to Aparshakti, Ayushman’s brother, sang the popular tune “Pani da Rang” to a rapt audience. He had everyone floored.

He then proceeded to introduce us to his team, a vibrant lot who’s youngest was playing for his chance to meet Drogba!

A very supportive audience had turned up to show their teams that they were there for them. YOUniverse we’ve always known you were great but this just made you all just plain awesome!

Our host had a word with the Proud Mamas of our teams, Maa da ladlas were being showered with their affection and support pretty loudly!

But our favourite moments were spent watching the teams battle it out in the cage. No team held back, giving us two days of endless passion and skill.

Even at the final match no one let up. The teams really came to a head at the end with SPG ending the hopes of JD Boys to step into the Pepsi T20 Finals to be held in Dilli itself.

So well, congratulations to the winners and we hope that JD BOys does not lose hope.

From land of Nawabs, Pepsi T20 Football reached the land of Punjabi Mundas! The city of Ludhiana welcomed us with open arms, dhol et al and we were all set to get them down to the arena and play football, Pepsi style.
Day one was filled with fun and frolic as the teams were welcomed with traditional Punjabi music. Men carrying dhols marched in with the teams and initiated this leg of Pepsi T20 Football. The shers of Punjab were all set to kick off and show us what they were made of. And boy, was it a treat!

The aggressive tactics they used showed us that Ludhiana does have great footy potential. There were a few injuries too and they were pretty bad ones at that. The referees didn’t seem too pleased with it though. All we can say in their defence is that yeh Punjabi sher khoon se nahi darte!
Okay, coming back to football. From the very start, we could see a few teams stand out when it came to their gameplay. Rurka FA and Rurka FC were two such teams. When we spoke with the teams, we found out that they belonged to Rurka Football Academy. We met up with their coach and had a little tete-a-tete with him about the teams and their academy.
Impressive, isn’t it? Let’s talk about some fun we had in Ludhiana now. The crowd went absolutely nuts over the cheerleaders and the freestylers (as always). This time we had not one, not two, but three freestylers performing some crazy tricks for the audience.

Even the cheerleaders added some Punjabi tadka to their performance this time making believers out of even the staunchest critic!

We even found some rather interesting boys in the audience. They were totally in the mood to groove to some music and entertain us. Here’s a look at them performing to none other than Yo Yo Honey Singh!

Coming back to the games, we had a rather interesting semi finals match between Rurka FA and Rurka FC.

Anisha (@TheBlackSakura) caught up with the coach again and asked him what he thought about his two teams playing against each other for that one spot in the finals.

Rurka FA won and reached the finals with Fateh Club. What do we say about the final game? IT WAS MAGNIFICENT!!! So much excitement!!! We felt that Fateh Club was the underdog. The way they surprised us, the audience and Rurka FA was fantastic. They showed that they were not worried about the seasoned and trained team they were up against. Their love for the game was enough to knock Rurka FA flat out in the finals and claim the title of Pepsi T20 Football champs in Ludhiana.
Here’s wishing Fateh Club good luck for the finale in Delhi where they will team up against the best in the country. One can only imagine the fireworks when teams that have fought long and hard to reach the finals clash in what can only be called the most EPIC showdown in the Pepsi T20 Football.

After a roaring success in Mumbai, Pepsi T20 Football made its way to the City of Nawabs, Lucknow! We were psyched to get there and witness this culturally rich city show off their footy skills. Star blogger, Anisha (@TheBlackSakura) soaked in the Lucknow sun and tried some of the delicious food it has to offer. She also met someone on the way and asked him a few questions about football.

Are you drooling yet? The food here is to die for! Tunday Kabab is famous not only in Lucknow but all over the country. The tender kababs, biryani and roast chicken are all so good. Don’t forget to try it if you ever visited Lucknow.

Don’t underestimate this city when it comes to football. These guys really knew how to play. The crowd didn’t hold back their cheering skills too. We had our very own cheering team in the audience who came in and showed how much they loved this game! Unbelievable, isn’t it?

While the audience loved our cheerleaders, there was a twist in Lucknow. For the first time in the history of Pepsi T20 Football, the audience was mesmerized by the battle between the freestylers and local Lucknow guys. Check it out!

Believe it or not though, this happened WHILE the cheerleaders were performing in the cage. And well, even the blogger wasn’t immune. She got into the cage and got grooving with the freestylers and tried her hand at some football tricks.

Teams were asked to report 30 minutes before a match but some teams came in hours early to scope the competition. The blogger caught up with The Ballistic Seven team in the audience to get their take on things. Take a look.

On day 2, we had a friendly match between the twitterati of Lucknow and the audience. Guess who won? Yes, the audience pwned the twitterati team. Looks like they need to work on their footy skills more than their tweeting skills! Are you guys listening?

The final showdown between the Predators and White Eagle FC was quite a nail-biter. They both played so well that we couldn’t contain our excitement. Eventually, the winners were White Eagle FC with their goalkeeper being named the Game Changer. He showed great keeper skills and proved that you can change the game even if you don’t score goals. He truly is a remarkable example of a great goalkeeper.

Anyway, we hope to catch the action in Punjabland next week. Until then, keep calm and CHANGE THE GAME!!!

From the Land of Rosogollas to the City of Dreams; Mumbai welcomed Pepsi T20 Football with open arms and boy, did we enjoy it! Right from the time we reached Nirmal Lifestyle in Mulund, we knew this was gonna be one helluva ride. The large atrium inside the mall housed the T20 Football arena. Everyone in the mall could catch the buzz in the air.

People were ready to embrace football for the weekend. Forgetting cricket, people just wanted to watch 14 minutes of pure football entertainment. Mall goers were mesmerized by the entire setup and initiative by Pepsi which made them forget their shopping list and stand right there to catch a glimpse of the game. As the games began, we were taken aback by the players’ performance. Challenges were issued to opponents with much gusto. These guys were true blue footballers and boy were we glad to see them play!

Talking about the audience, they too were excited about Pepsi reaching Mumbai for T20 Football. Their excitement could not be contained!

Some of them even tried their luck with actually playing football and kicking some!

#PepsiT20Football created quite a buzz on Twitter too. Twitterati were also present for the event. Check out Anisha a.k.a. @TheBlackSakura interacting with some people in the audience and players.

Let’s not forget @ChhotaRecharge, @Gulabo_ and @ItemBoi sharing their thoughts on Pepsi T20 Football.

Apart from the games, we had the cheerleaders enthrall the audience with their, well, cheering skills. Who wouldn’t be excited to see them perform?! Last but not the least, freestylers who came all they from France, entertained us with their mind-boggling tricks. We’re sure many people must have tried mimicking them at home.
The winners (Young Boys) were definitely deserving. They beat some really good teams to get to where they are right now. Introducing, the #1 Pepsi T20 Football team in Mumbai!

The Young Boys are gearing up for the finals in Delhi and are determined to put on a good fight. Here’s wishing them good luck and looking forward to the next leg of the journey on the Pepsi T20 Football trail – LUCKNOW!!! CHANGE THE GAME!!!

Pepsi T20 Football flew in to Kolkata and wow! From the word GO one knows why Kolkata is called the football capital of the country. Where the rest of the country generally has gully cricket, Kolkata rocks the streets with gully football! Turn this way and one can see Torres and Messi, turn the other way and one notices Drogba and Lampard! Oh well, jerseys at least Oh but Kolkata, stand tall and give one up for yourselves. Yea! We really brought it and how!

Before we went down to City Center Mall at Salt Lake to witness Pepsi T20 Football LIVE we caught up with the CEO of Mohun Bagan Youth Development initiative Kalyan Chaubey who gave us his opinion on Football in Kolkata and how Pepsi T20 Football is Changing the Game.

We then headed on down to the stadium at Salt Lake to feel a little bit of the rich history of football in Kolkata.

After all that it was Pepsi T20 Football time and well, what can we say? Competition was fierce to say the least and the YOUniverse shone out proud! Right from the first second that the referee blew his whistle to start till the second that Royal Blues won the Kolkata leg, the tension in the air could be cut with a knife! One game had a score of 35 to 2! That’s crazy football don’t you think?

What’s more, the living legend, Baichung Bhutia came in on the second day and sent everyone into a tizzy! Jatin Sapru spoke to him and the legend shared his views on Pepsi T20 Football right after he stepped into the cage and attempted a couple of goals. Star players Robin Singh and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu from the East Bengal team were also there! We’re pretty sure they were bedazzled by what the YOUniverse showed in the cage that day.

But that’s not all; the entertainment was at an all time high too with cheerleaders, awesome music and freestyle footballers entertaining Kolkata to the max!

From Mishti Doi to Roshogolas and now Pepsi T20 Football, let’s just say we’re a land of many sweet surprises up our sleeves

While Royal Blues will up their game to face the best of the country in the finals Pepsi T20 Football headed on to the city of dreams, Mumbai for what will be another crazy leg of Pepsi T20 Football. HUGE SHOUT OUT to Mumbai! CHANGE THE GAME!

The second stop for Pepsi T20 football was the Garden City this past weekend and what a show was put up by the YOUniverse in Bangalore! The action on the court was as hot as the temperature. But it lacked the kind of action Chennai brought. Chennai was definitely hotter than Bengaluru both inside the cage and outside Express Avenue Mall.
Stop for a minute to mention, the presence of India’s cricketing superstar, Virat Kohli who showed the YOUniverse a few moves of his own as he stepped into the cage to play some Football, T20 style.

The entire pool of talented footy players from in and around Bangalore was over at the very cool and fancy Phoenix Market City Mall for two days of T20 Football mayhem. After a couple of days of rocking dribbles, nut-megs, step overs, headers & goal line saves, United FC came out on top and will now go on to represent Bangalore in the final leg of the competition which will be held in our nation’s capital on the 9th and 10th of June.
